Inaugural Calls – Ocean Nova and Majestic Princess

The Ocean Nova and Royal class vessel Majestic Princess will be making their inaugural calls to Gibraltar this week.

The Ocean Nova is a cruise ship purposely built for use in arctic waters. It has a capacity for 68 passengers which can be accommodated in 37 outer cabins. She has a gross tonnage of 1,518 tonnes and
a length of 72.20 metres.

Majestic Princess is a sister ship to Regal Princess and Royal Princess and was built at the Fincantieri shipyard in Monfalcone, Italy and set sail on her maiden voyage from Trieste on 31st March
2017. She has a gross tonnage of 143,000 tonnes, a length of 1,083 feet and a capacity for 3560 passengers. Her design includes ‘Movies Under the Stars’ the largest outdoor screen at sea, a multilevel piazza style atrium and a glass floor walkway, which extends 8 metres beyond the edge of the ship.

Minister for Tourism, Gilbert Licudi said: “We welcome Ocean Nova and Majestic Princess to the Rock at the beginning of what is expected to be another magnificent cruise ship year for the Port of
Gibraltar. Her Majesty’s Government of Gibraltar continues to support the cruise industry by maintaining consistent dialogue with all those involved in making the destination attractive to cruise passengers.
